Biography

 

Dr. Marushiakova is Associate Professor and Chair of the Balkan Ethnology Department at the Ethnographic Institute and Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.  She is also a member of the Study Group Music and Minorities at the International Council for Traditional Music and of the Science and Degree Committee of the Ethnographic Institute and Museum.  She currently serves as an Editorial Board Member for Romani Studies (formerly known as the Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society).

Dr. Marushiakova has extensive research experience.  Her most recent project was entitled “Programme Roms & Voyageurs,” and was completed in partnership with the French Foreign Affairs Ministry.
