"My experience with the Korean International
Educator Fulbright Programs was an eye opening
and intellectually stimulating opportunity
to observe the current situation in the
Republic of Korea. I had an opportunity
to observe first hand the educational, economic,
industrial and military infrastructure of
this emerging economic powerhouse. As a
direct result of my experience we are in
the process of developing an English Language
Training Center. This is the first step
in a program that will expose Koreans to

"There was a gap in my East Asian experience
before I had an opportunity to study Korean
higher education and culture under the Fulbright
Scholar Program. I now advise Korean students
and faculty with more confidence. I understand
more fully the special place Korea holds in
terms of its own culture and history sand
how it relates to its Chinese and Japanese
neighbors. . . . From this expanded knowledge
base, I can give more satisfactory help to
our Oregon students bound for Yonsei and Ehwa
Universities. Finally, I take great pride
