Core Fulbright Scholar Program

The core Fulbright Scholar Program sends 800 U.S. faculty and professionals abroad each year. Grantees lecture and conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.

Fulbright Specialist Program (FSP)

The Fulbright Specialist Program is designed to provide short-term academic opportunities (two to six weeks) for U.S. faculty and professionals. Shorter grant lengths give Specialist greater flexibility to pursue a grant that works best with their current academic or professional.

Fulbright NEXUS Regional Scholar Program

The Fulbright Regional Network for Applied Research (NEXUS) Program will bring together a network of junior scholars, professionals and mid-career applied researchers from the United States and other Western Hemisphere nations for a series of three seminar meetings and a Fulbright exchange experience.

Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program

Awards in the Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program are viewed as among the most prestigious appointments in the Fulbright Scholar Program. Candidates should be senior scholars and have a significant publication and teaching record.

Seminars

 

Fulbright International Education Administrators Program (IEA)

These IEA seminars are designed to introduce participants to the society, culture and higher education systems in France, Germany, United Kingdom, India, Japan or Korea through campus visits, meetings with foreign colleagues and government officials, attendance at cultural events and briefings on education. Participants gain new perspective on the need to internationalize U.S. campuses and insight into how it can be done.

Fulbright German Studies Seminar

Participate in a group seminar on current German society and culture. Participants in this seminar gain a firsthand look into how Germany’s political, economic and cultural systems deal with contemporary issues. For U.S. scholars, the engagement in substantive dialogue with political, academic, scientific, journalistic and cultural leaders in Germany can strengthen research and teaching.

Fulbright Community College Administrators Seminar in the Russian Federation

As the result of the U.S.-Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission’s Working Group on Education, Culture, Sports and Media, a number of educational and cultural exchange programs were reviewed and reinvigorated. The Fulbright Community College Administrators Seminar (CCAS) is a unique outcome, capping years of work to expand the Scholar Program’s outreach to and impact on American community colleges and technical schools.

Scholar-in-Residence Program (S-I-R)

The Worldwide Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program brings visiting scholars and professionals from abroad to lecture at U.S. colleges and universities for one semester or one academic year. Fulbright Scholars-in-Residence can have a significant impact on U.S. colleges and universities.

Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for Iraq

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for Iraq will bring cohorts of Iraqi scholars in select fields to U.S. institutions for faculty development, research, and other guided study activities.

Junior Faculty Development Program for Afghanistan

The U. S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) has announced a competition to identify potential host institutions for the 2013 Junior Faculty Development Program for Afghanistan (JFDPA). The 10-week program will sponsor 20 junior faculty from Afghanistan to be placed at one selected U.S. institutions for intensive professional development.

Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for Libya (Natural Sciences)

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for Libya is designed to bring junior Libyan scholars to U.S. host institutions for faculty development, mentoring, and cultural exchange activities.

Occasional Lecturer Fund

The Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) provides travel awards through the Occasional Lecturer Fund), which enable Fulbright Visiting Scholars who are currently in the U.S. to accept guest lecturing invitations at colleges and universities.

Core Fulbright Scholar Program

Each year some 800 faculty and professionals from around the world receive Fulbright Scholar grants for advanced research and university lecturing in the United States. Individuals who meet the eligibility requirements apply for grants through the Fulbright commission/foundation or public affairs section of the U.S. embassy in their home countries. Fulbright Visiting Scholar Enrichment Programs

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program provides a variety of enrichment activities throughout the academic year, which are intended to further the Fulbright Program’s goal of increasing mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and people of other countries. These activities, including enrichment seminars, benefit Fulbright Visiting Scholars who have received Fulbright Scholar grants for advanced research and university lecturing in the United States.
