Fulbright U.S. - Pakistan Initiative

Due to a recent expansion of the Fulbright program with Pakistan, several new grant opportunities are available for U.S. scholars interested in visiting Pakistani universities during the 2012-2013 academic year.

The following initiative applies to core Fulbright Scholar grants and Fulbright Specialist grants.

As a special exception, U.S. scholars who have reached their lifetime limit on Fulbright scholar grants are eligible to apply for an additional grant to Pakistan.  The usual required waiting period of five years between grants has also been waived.  These exemptions are valid for three years from August 1, 2010 through August 1, 2013. The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) will be pleased to assist U.S. scholars who do not have prior experience in Pakistan in finding appropriate placements at Pakistani universities.

Core Program

Pakistan has a well-trained, sophisticated academic community ensuring that a Fulbright Scholar will have a rewarding professional experience.

There is particular interest in scholars and senior professionals with expertise in the fields of energy, water and environmental issues, humanities, social sciences, veterinary sciences, agriculture, nursing. Please see award descriptions for more information.

Scholars interested in a three- to six-month grant in Pakistan must submit an application by August 1, 2011.
