Chronicle of Higher Education Special Feature on the Fulbright Program
The October 28 online edition of The Chronicle of Higher Education includes feature stories on how the U.S. Department of State is responding to a changing research environment by offering new Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program grant opportunities; profiles of how Northern Illinois University has internationalized its campus by increasing its overall participation with the Fulbright Program, a Fulbright U.S. Scholar studying how Egyptians’ consumer behavior patterns are a reflection of the country’s recent dramatic political events; and two Colombian Fulbright Nexus Scholars researching solutions to challenges posed by climate change. This year’s edition also provides the lists of "Top Producing" schools – those institutions in each Carnegie Classification that had the highest number of students and scholars who received Fulbright grants this year.
The Fulbright Program, the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program, is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State. Since its inception in 1946, the Fulbright Program has provided more than 300,000 participants—chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns. In the United States, the Institute of International Education administers and coordinates activities relevant to the Fulbright Student Program and Fulbright Scholar Program on behalf of the U.S Department of State. You can find out more about the Fulbright Program at www.fulbrightonline.org, or on the State Department's Fulbright website at http://fulbright.state.gov.

Congratulations to all those institutions whose scholars received Fulbright grants this year and especially to those listed in this year's top producing lists. We would like to thank the Fulbright Campus Representatives for their successful support and promotion of the Fulbright Scholar Program on their campuses.
