Awards and Benefits
Program Overview:  Awards in the Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program are viewed as among the most prestigious appointments in the Fulbright Scholar Program. Candidates should have a prominent record of scholarly accomplishment. The former two-tiered application process for the Distinguished Chairs Program has been consolidated into a single application process. The new application deadline will be August 1, 2008. Applicants should submit a single complete application online that includes: the online application form with all required items completed; a project statement (up to five pages); a tailored curriculum vitae or resume, including publications list (up to eight pages); for research awards: a select bibliography (up to three pages) and three reference letters; for lecturing or lecturing/research awards: course syllabi (up to 10 pages), two reference letters and one teaching report; a letter of invitation or other relevant correspondence from abroad, in the few cases where applicable. Selected scholars will be notified following a review during the fall.

Benefits
Stipend:  n.a.
Maintenance:  US$125,000 for 9 months. Housing will be provided under the terms of the grant and will not be the responsibility of the grantee.
Travel/Relocation:  Round-trip travel for grantee, spouse, and minor children, and return baggage allowance of SEK 700 are provided.
Tuition Assistance:  Public primary and secondary schools usually are free in Sweden for dependents and begin in August. English instruction is available at several international schools although some may charge tuition. For more information on the educational system, visit www.skolverket.se.
