Laszlo Orszagh Chair in American Studies (Hungary)

Special Deadline: August 1, 2008
Grant Activity: Teach three lecture or seminar courses per semester and direct research at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Scholar may also offer short-term courses for Hungarian faculty and assist in curriculum development. Additional duties will vary depending on the host institution but may include assisting in curriculum development, overseeing student research and thesis work and participating in departmental research projects.
Specialization(s): Applications accepted from any of the disciplines comprising American studies, including, but not limited to: history, art history, philosophy, literature, African American culture and literature, political science, sociology and religion.
Language: Lecturing is in English.
Additional Qualifications: Established scholar at associate or full professor level. Experience teaching graduate students and supervising Ph.D. theses desirable.
Location: Affiliation to be determined.
Length of Grant: 4 months to 9 months
Starting Date: September 2009 for academic-year grants (preferred); September 2009 or February 2010 for one-semester grants
Comments: The Fulbright Commission in Hungary will place the Chair at one of the following universities: Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest; University of Debrecen; University of Szeged; University of Pecs; University of Veszprem; Pazmany Peter Catholic University, Piliscsaba; University of Miskolc; or Gaspar Karoli University of the Hungarian Reformed Church, Budapest.
