Overview

The U. S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) has announced a competition to identify potential host institutions for the 2013 Junior Faculty Development Program for Afghanistan (JFDPA). The 10-week program will sponsor 20 junior faculty from Afghanistan to be placed at one selected U.S. institutions for intensive professional development.

Funded by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), this program is administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), a division of the Institute of International Education (IIE).

The 10-week program is scheduled for early January 2013 through mid-March 2013. The program is comprised of the following:

  1. A nine-week program at a U.S. university host campus consisting of a one-week intensive English language training, an orientation, attendance at a relevant professional conference (off campus), and an academic program on campus for the remainder of the eight weeks.

  2. Program wrap-up to be convened in Washington, D.C., conducted by CIES.

Through this request for proposal, CIES seeks one host institution for the 2013 Junior Faculty Development Program for Afghanistan (JFDPA). The deadline for electronic receipt of proposals by CIES is 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time, September 14, 2012.
